Bred
for more than 3000 years in Turkmenistan (a desert region
north of Iran) and raised to withstand extreme desert
conditions, it is a tough, hardy horse ideal for endurance
riding.
Origin: Turkmenistan.
Colour: Bay, chestnut, grey and black.
Height: 15.1 - 15.2 hands.
Conformation: Fine head with large expressive
eyes and long ears, long straight neck, high withers
and sloping shoulders. Long back, shallow rib cage and
tends to have poor loins and narrow hindquarters, long
hindlegs tending to cow hocks, small hard feet, sparse
mane and tail, thin skinned.
Character: Intelligent, spirited, tough.
Uses: Riding, endurance.
