AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE OR WALER
Also known as the 'Waler', the breed developed from
original imports of various breeds used as stock horses.
Improved with Arab and Thoroughbred bloodlines, this
hardy and agile horse worked on cattle stations and
served the cavalry regiments in British India.
It excelled at polo and campdrafting, and more recently
has proved itself in the Olympic disciplines.
Origin: New South Wales, Australia.
Colour: All colours.
Height: 15.0 - 16 hands.
Conformation: Thoroughbred-type with alert
head, deep girth, strong back and hindquarters.
Character: Willing, versatile, hardy.
Uses: Stock work, campdrafting, polo,
endurance, all competitions from dressage to showjumping.
