FELL
PONY
The
Fell pony is renowned for its strength and reputedly
carried daily loads of 220 lb for up to 30 miles. It
was used for carting lead on the western side of the
Pennines.
Origin: Cumbria, England.
Colour: Usually black, though also bay,
brown and grey. White markings on legs are allowed.
Height: 13 - 14 hands.
Conformation: Alert head and long neck,
a muscular body and strong, feathered legs.
Character: Alert, hard worker.
Uses: Riding, trekking, driving.
