The Mongolian Wild Horse - PRZEWALSKI's HORSE
This
primitive horse (it has 66 chromozomes instead of 64)
was thought to have been hunted to extinction by Mongolian
tribesmen, until a small herd was discovered in 1881
on the edge of the Gobi Desert by the Russian Explorer,
Col. N. Przewalski.
It is still threatened with extinction, although it
is found in many zoos.
Origin: Mongolia.
Colour: Dun with mealy muzzle, dorsal
stripe.
Height: 12 - 13.2 hands.
Conformation: Large, primitive head with
eyes set high up, short body, slight hindquarters.
Character: Aggressive, undomesticated.
