Blue Chip Wins Top Business Award

Blue Chip Horse Feeds - Winners
Blue Chip Horse Feeds has won the highly prestigious Parcelforce Worldwide Small Business of the Year. Having already been announced best of the North East entrants, the company went forward with nine other finalists to a glittering 'Oscar' style ceremony at BAFTA in London's Piccadilly on 30th November. The victory earned Blue Chip an impressive £30,000 worth of prizes, to add to its £6,000 regional award.

World famous entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson, Small Business Minister Nigel Griffiths and the renowned businessman Phillip Green, all took their turn to highlight the important role that small businesses such as Blue Chip play in the UK economy. Phillip Green, director of Bhs Ltd and the Arcadia Group, was also one of an illustrious panel of judges who proclaimed Blue Chip to be the best of the 3,000 entries.

Blue Chip founder, Clare Blaskey, has worked tirelessly to develop and promote the company and its high quality feeds and to build excellence into its products. The judges were impressed by her passion and commitment to a business which incorporates scientific expertise in its formulations and which has a strong understanding of its market and customers.

In announcing the win, Parcelforce Worldwide MD Vanessa Leeson said, "Blue Chip's owners have turned their passion into a well run and successful business. They are very much a part of the same world as their customers and are able to keep in touch with changes in customer needs and with the trends in their market. Their sponsorship and investment in their industry is exemplary."

A delighted Clare said, "We are absolutely thrilled and amazed to have won this important award. It is a fantastic achievement for a truly small company that employs only 3 full time and 2 part time staff. It makes all the hard work worthwhile and will do much to enhance the profile of our business at home and abroad. We couldn't have done it without the support of our thousands of loyal customers. "
