Saddle Up for Spinal Research in 2006
Saddle Up was originally started in 2000 in the effort to reach one of the largest groups to be ‘at risk’ of spinal injury. The equestrian community has taken the campaign to heart and has raised over £200,000 under the Saddle Up banner, to help people with Spinal Cord Injury to have hope for the future. In research terms, that is the approximate cost of two complete research projects.

Now the Saddle Up brand has been re-designed to complement Spinal Research’s charity brand, and it is hoped that it will help to attract further support from the equestrian community. Ginny Elliot, Saddle Up’s Patron, has supported the campaign since its outset; “As a professional Eventer, I am more than aware of how devastating a serious fall can be – that’s why I enjoy being patron of Spinal Research’s Saddle Up campaign. Spinal Research brings hope that soon paralysis may not be forever.”

How you can help
· Make a donation by cheque or credit card. You can even do it online at www.justgiving.com
· Make a regular gift each month, a form can be requested.
· Organise your own Saddle-Up event, such as a sponsored ride, a dressage competition, a quiz, a ball, a fancy dress competition (that’s horses and riders!). Spinal Research is here to help you with advice and materials. There is a new special Saddle-Up Events Pack with plenty of good ideas and when you have registered your event we can support you with posters, banners, rosettes, sponsor forms and lots more.
· Make Spinal Research the beneficiary of proceeds from your existing fundraising events, such as sponsored rides and charity balls. Spinal Research can provide materials such as leaflets, the Charity’s Annual Review, Newsletter and Research Digest, and a fundraising video based on a BBC broadcast.
· Take part in one of the forthcoming Spinal Research events listed on the events page. You can join the organising committee, act as a steward, or participate and raise sponsorship. These promise to be great events but Spinal Research will need your support to make them into fundraising successes.
Alternatively: Please consider sponsoring my sis' in The London Flora Marathon 2006 to support this brilliant work.....
Message from Suze:
"Happy New Year!!
On Sunday, 23rd April I will be taking part in the event of a lifetime, running 26.2 miles in the London Flora Marathon 2006. This is a real challenge for me but I am doing this to raise money for Spinal Research (registered charity number 281325).
As some of you will remember, I suffered two crushed vertebrae myself in a car crash some years ago, and to this day appreciate greatly the fact that I can still walk and indeed run and for this reason I have chosen to support Spinal Research.
Any donation you can make towards my sponsorship total would be really appreciated. Donations can be made on line at www.justgiving.co.uk/suzisrun.
Anyway, thank you so much for taking the time to read and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Love
Suze xx"
